Who is Rainer?
Really, I am just a normal guy, who has been running classic, brick-and-mortar businesses my entire life. From selling advertising space for the Barcelona Metropolitan Magazine and Time Out Guides for 15 years, to selling telephone services, to selling Insurances for the last decade, I have been there and done it all. :=)
In that time, I have been tremendously successful in all those ventures. However, it always annoyed me that I had to chase people up, or that I had to call after them. Have you seen the movie “Goodbye Lenin”? Well, that´s where I am from.I was born in good ol’ East Berlin, being brought up behind the Iron Curtain. When the Berlin Wall fell in 1989, it represented a transition in my life. I still get goose bumps just thinking about it. Having lived through my entire childhood just a few metersfrom the Berlin Wall, never having been able to see the other part of my city, it was as if, all of a sudden, somebody pushed open a door to the world. Luckily for me, it came at the perfect moment – I was very young, and a grand new world of opportunities arose, like a phoenix from the ashes. Grasping this opportunity, I decided to leave Germany and move to London to learn English. It was the single most important decision in my entire life. To be young and in London, what else could be better? London is a melting pot of cultures and gives everyone an opportunity for growth. I did my university degree there, and learned that, regardless of your identity, culture, or language, as long as you provide real value to people you can live an amazing life. This openness and open-mindedness is still at the core of my inner beliefs. As long as one can truly solve another person’s problem, fixing an issue that is highly valued, while genuinely caring about it, the world will compensate you greatly. That is the mantra that I live by day in and day out. The path I took in life was always related to sales, since I initially believed it was the easiest way to make a living.
